During my first experience with cancer treatment, I was surprised to learn that one of my fellow survivors timed her radiation treatments to prayer. She knew exactly how many Hail Marys and Our Fathers she could recite as the radiation machine did its thing. I didn’t have anything nearly as organized to keep track of…

Aquaphor is my Friend
My weekly 5 things: I have a cold with a very VERY runny nose. Hence the Aquaphor on my nose to help soothe the chafing. As of today, completed 9 radiation treatments. Had my biggest “OH SHIT!” moment at work thus far. Learned how to use the STRIVE machines at the YMCA. Watched a friend breeze…
The world is weird
Every day, I listen/watch/read the news and I wonder how my country ended up this way. Enough political commentary. I forgot to post last week, so no 5 things for that time frame. Here are 5 things that are happening this week. Game night tomorrow! Featuring cooperative games. It’ll be fun! Had the ‘dry run’…
5 things – 4th week of January 2017
Howdy. 5 things: 1 – I’ll just leave this right here. Cutest tweet war EVER! 2 – Board game night hosted by me and Turbo on 1/28. 3 – Consult with radiation oncologist. SPOILER ALERT: I’m getting the radiation therapy. 4 – Planning appointment with radiation oncology. Turns out that the targeting tattoos that I…
2016 can just be over now
When people talk about 2016, people focus on the beloved celebrities that have died during the course of the year. There have been so many. And for some reason, Carrie Fisher hurts me the most. She was STABLE, dammit! She shouldn’t have died. Maybe it’s because she’s a link to my childhood that’s now been…
Friday Drive By Post
I love the fact that I can wear any wig of my choice to my workplace on Fridays. I can’t think of many places that would condone cosplay wigs in the work environment. It almost makes being bald due to chemo worthwhile. Today’s hair – short and white. Because why not?
Shake My Head
At the Cancer clinic this morning, the guy in line behind me checked in reeking of cigarette smoke. I just don’t understand some people. I don’t know what he has, but you would think that cancer would be a wake up call to stop using the cancer sticks.
Unintentional Radio Silence
Life sometimes gets in the way. When that happens to me, silence ensues. Since my last post, I have had a diagnosis. I have had surgery. I have had 3 of 6 infusions. My 4th is tomorrow. I continue to work when I am able, which averages to 32 hours a week. Not bad, really….
Food choices
I find that I approach live one day at a time. As a result I have inadvertently forgotten things that need to be done until the last minute. Take today for instance. I have a PET scan scheduled for Friday. I vaguely recall the scheduler telling me that I needed to follow a low carb…
Pokemon and other news
Pokemon Go’s combat technique confounds me. I made my first visit to a gym yesterday and got crushed. Luckily it was a Team Mystic gym, so there was no real damage done to my pokemon. In other news, I had my MRI on Saturday and am waiting for results. I have an appointment on Friday…
Signs
You know your day is going to be bad when someone from your doctor’s office calls at 8:30 am saying that the doctor wants to see you at 5:30 pm. It’s especially bad when that doctor is your oncologist.
